Living Dead in Dallas Sookie Stackhouse in Dallas The sexy telepath Sookie uses her talents in Dallas in the second of the Southern Vampire series. On a secret mission for Eric, Sookie and Bill head to Dallas to search for a missing Vampire. Their adventure leads them to a group of dangerous religious fanatics set on purifying the world of the evil Vampires and other supernatural entities. Although I did think the first of the series, Dead Until Dark, was a much better book, this one is still filled with the same kind of charm. One can't help but liking the various people from Sookie to Bill, Eric, Stan, and even Bubba. Each of the personalities is strong in their own right and are very well developed; continuing on from the first of the series. This is a very original series and Charlaine Harris has found a great niche in the Vampire arena. It's best if you read the books in order since it is a progression and you'll miss alot of the background. It's nice to see fresh and new talent in the Vampire and supernatural realm. Charlaine has found a way to humanize Vampires better than any one I know and she turns them into fairly ordinary citizens, but in a very charming and entertaining kind of way. 7/1/03 |
