Angel: City of ISBN: 0671041444 Angel on the Move By now, anyone remotely interested in Buffy and/or Angel has already read this book or will read it no matter what the reviews are. Some things you just have to do no matter what the opinions are. For me personally, I enjoyed the book much better than any tie-in to the television series. Why? - two reasons; (1) while I like the character of Angel, I simply can't stand David Boreanaz. He's too smug looking, looks ridiculous when trying to be the evil Angelus, and just doesn't command any real presence. Spike would have made a much better 'Angel'. The second reason why I think the book is better is that alot more could be done with the historical flashbacks. A fairly detailed description of Angel's background is presented and flows very well in this book. You can even appreciate this book without even knowing about his past with Buffy; the flashbacks and references provide enough detail to fill this gap. In this book, Angel is now on his own in Los Angeles, doing his best to do penance for his sins of the past by trying to do good deeds. He meets up with Doyle who tries to convince that he can best serve by not hiding away in the shadows but to go out and embrace the world. Doyle has been assigned to help Angel along on this quest. You'll also be happy to know that Cordelia is now also living in LA, hoping to break into the movie scene. 7/7/03 |
